In-Home Obedience Training

Obedience training should happen where your dog actually lives — not in a sterile classroom. Malia's in-home obedience program builds reliable sit, down, stay, recall, and loose-leash walking in the context of your daily routine, with your family present and involved.

Core commands that actually stick

Sit, down, stay, come, and leave it — these are the foundation of a well-mannered dog. The difference between a dog who knows these commands and one who performs them reliably under distraction is where the real training happens. Every skill is proofed in your home, your yard, and your neighbourhood so the behaviour transfers to the situations where you need it most.

Leash manners and loose-leash walking

Pulling on leash is the most common complaint I hear from dog owners. I teach a mechanical approach to loose-leash walking that replaces the constant tug-of-war with a calm, predictable walking routine. Most dogs show significant improvement within two to three sessions. We practise on your actual walking routes — not a parking lot.

Door manners and impulse control

A dog that bolts through every open door is a safety hazard. Door manners, waiting for permission at thresholds, and impulse control exercises build a dog that can think before acting. These skills also carry over to mealtime, greeting guests, and getting in and out of vehicles — everyday moments that are much easier with a dog who understands boundaries.

How sessions are structured

Sessions are built around your specific challenges — whether that is door-dashing, pulling on walks, or ignoring commands when guests arrive. You learn the mechanics behind each skill so training continues between sessions. I do not just train your dog; I train you to train your dog. That is how lasting results happen.
